Earring Styling Guide: 101
Building an ear stack is easier than you might think.
Earrings are the jewellery closest to your face, which means even a small change can shift the mood of your entire look. A fine hoop can brighten the face, a tiny stone can catch the light, and a symbol you love can make the look feel instantly more personal.
At KURSHUNI, we do not think of ear stacking as filling the ear with as many pieces as possible. What matters to us is how the earrings work together. You do not need multiple piercings, statement pieces, or complicated rules. A few considered choices are enough to create a balanced look that feels like your own.
We design our earrings with the same idea in mind: refined on their own, and able to give one another room when worn together. For a first stack, our suggestion is simple: decide which earring you want to speak a little louder.
Keep Your First Combination Simple
Two earrings are often enough to begin. One of the easiest combinations we like at KURSHUNI is a small hoop in the first piercing and a tiny stone-set or symbolic stud above it. The hoop gives the look structure; the smaller earring adds a subtle point of light higher on the ear.
For a quieter result, keep both pieces fine and small. If you want a little more character, let just one of them carry a symbol. Your first ear stack does not need every piece to compete for attention.
Let It Become Lighter as You Move Up the Ear
Following the natural shape of the ear is one of the safest and most reliable ways to begin. We like to place a slightly more noticeable piece in the first piercing, then reduce the scale as the stack moves upwards. The eye reads this rhythm as naturally balanced.
A medium hoop, a smaller hoop above it, and a tiny stone at the top is a good example. The same idea works beautifully with three solitaire studs in different sizes: largest at the bottom, medium in the middle, smallest at the top. There is a reason this combination is so popular - it is easy, clean, and works with almost every style.

Let One Piece Lead and the Others Support It
If you are unsure where to begin, choose the earring you most want to wear that day. When we build a combination, we like to find that piece first and keep everything around it quieter. It might be an evil eye, a heart, an initial, or a more distinctive hoop.
This approach works especially well with symbolic earrings. The symbol carries meaning, a small hoop adds movement, and a stone-set stud catches the light. When each piece has its own role, the ear stack naturally feels more refined.

Your Two Ears Do Not Have to Match
Symmetry is a safe place to begin, but it is not a requirement. We also like a small two-piece stack on one ear with a single hoop on the other. Especially when the hair is swept to one side, this slight asymmetry feels natural and modern.
For a beginner stack, the secret is to keep the two ears connected rather than making them tell completely different stories. The same metal tone, a similar hoop, or a repeated small stone is enough to create that link.
When Your Outfit Is Quiet, Your Ears Can Speak a Little Louder
A white shirt, fine knit, simple blazer, or slip-style dress creates an ideal backdrop for an ear stack. We especially like small details around the ear with understated clothes, because nothing else is competing for the eye.
For everyday wear, a hoop and a tiny stone are often enough. In the evening, you can add a single symbol or a second hoop to the same combination. Building on what you are already wearing, rather than starting again from scratch, makes styling easier and keeps the result feeling more natural.

If You Remember One Thing, Let It Be This
A beautiful ear stack does not need every piece to be different. The balance we like for beginners is very simple: let one piece add movement, one carry light or meaning, and let the rest support them.
Some days, two small earrings are enough. On others, you may want to add a third hoop. For us, the best combination is not the one that says the most; it is the one that feels good to wear and feels most like you.
Refined on its own. Stronger together. Personal when combined.
Choose the hoops, stones, and symbols that feel closest to you. Start small, follow the natural rhythm of your ear, and build the look over time in your own way. At KURSHUNI, this is exactly why we design earrings to work together: not to give you one correct combination, but to give you the freedom to create your own ear stack.
